Christmas is one of the best times to find work as a student, as businesses get busier over the festive season they often need more staff and open up temporary positions (known as temps). This type of work is ideal for students as it is low commitment and helps you earn some extra money over the winter months.

However, if you are looking for something more long term Christmas temp positions are an excellent way to get your foot in the door, and if you do well in the role there is often scope to stay on in a more permanent position.

Here are some tips to help you find vacancies:

• Apply early, mid-November is the perfect time, allowing for the interview process and any training to take place.

• Look for vacancies on the usual job sites, however it is worth contacting businesses directly, either by calling up or visiting in-person to see if there are roles available.

• Consider businesses that will have more demand over the festive season, for example Christmas Markets, Restaurants, Retailers or postal/ delivery services.
