Although January isn’t everyone’s favourite month here are some events and activities taking place that might improve the mood. From discounted cinema tickets, to free piano recitals, there’s plenty to get involved with!

Gigs and Nightclubs
Kicking off the year with some quality talent, as always Manchester’s music scene has it’s finger on the pulse. Here are some upcoming events that showcase the hottest sounds of the new year.

All parties aside, the next few weeks also see the likes of string quartets by candle-light in Manchester cathedral, The Hallé at the Bridgewater Hall, and the Manchester Harp Festival. For information on these and much more, check out Visit Manchester’s ‘What’s On’.

Food and drink
For many, January can be a challenging month, thankfully many local eateries are offering large food discounts throughout all of January. From Blues Kitchen to Nells Pizza, whatever cuisine you fancy, there’s most likely a great deal this month.

Always a hub for creatives, musicians and technicians, GRUB has two events on for the remainder of January. The Winter Beer and Wine Festival runs from the 18-20th, followed by the return of the monthly ‘Fizzy Quizzy’. For more details about these, head to GRUB’s website.

Across every Monday this January, Vue Cinemas have been offering discounted ‘Blue Monday’ cinema tickets, for a handpicked selection of comedies that are returning to cinemas. And lastly, beginning on Saturday 3rd February, the Manchester Open 2024 is beginning at HOME, and running until the end of April. An incredible selection of artwork will be displayed as an exhibition in the ground floor gallery, free to attend with donations encouraged.
