Welcome to Spirit Student News.

06 January, 2023

A new year, new Semester and brand new Spirit Student News site. Here you'll find all things related to student life.

Following feedback gathered from our student survey last year, we’ve launched this brand new Student News site. The site will bring together news and events, facilities updates, things to do in the city and support for your studies and wellbeing, all in one place.

At the top of the page you’ll see a ‘quick links’ drop down tab where you can access the sites you need as a student. This includes:

We’ll also be sending out a monthly newsletter so you can get all the information you need straight to your inbox.

We want to hear from you

Many of you are busy releasing your own music, organising events and gigs or launching your own businesses. Wherever we can, we want to help support your work by promoting it on our social media accounts, showcasing to our audience – and industry contacts – what you’re up to. If you have something to share, all you need to do is email marketing@spiritstudios.ac.uk with some brief info about what you’ve been working on. This includes:

  • What your involvement is (e.g. Producer, performer, organiser, FOH engineer)
  • If it’s an event: when and where it is, as well as details as to how people can register or buy a ticket, including a link if necessary
  • Your own social links so we can tag you in any posts, including Spotify and/or Soundcloud links
  • Any promotional assets you’ve created

What else is new at Spirit

A new look

Over the past couple of months you may have noticed things are looking a little different around the studios. We’ve introduced new building signage, a new website and social media content. Over the past year we’ve been developing and implementing a new Spirit Studios brand which we hope you feel better represents our community.

Study Zone

Towards the end of last year we turned PC Suite 1 into the Study Zone; a quiet space where you can work on essays, presentations and other assignments. We’ll continue to open the room on Monday’s, 12pm – 5pm, so you have a dedicated space to work independently or access support. A member of the Academic Team will be on hand to help with academic writing skills, presentations, referencing and more.

Creative Industries Advisor

In September last year, Lewis Jones began his new role as your Creative Industries Advisor. Helping to bridge the gap between your time as a student and life after university, Lewis is here to offer one-to-one career consultations. He’ll also be sourcing work experience and enrichment opportunities, as well as providing CV and cover letter advice. The booking form can be found in the Student Hub, under the classwork tab.
