Whether your starting your studies this year, or returning to Spirit, there’s a lot of life admin at this time of year. Here are some important things to bare in mind to keep yourself organised.
Google Classroom
We use Google Classroom for all announcements. Whether this is assignment information or resources from your courses tutors, updates on equipment from the tech team or events and opportunities from the academic team. It’s essential that you accept you invitation to Google Classroom to stay informed and up to date. The invites will have been sent to your student email address so search for the email and accept it through there. Log-in to Google Classroom here.
Similarly, to book out studios and sign-out equipment you need to have set-up accounts on Stingray and Cheqroom. Follow these links to access the resources.
Register with a GP
It’s important to register with a GP when moving to a new place so you can access them when necessary. GP’s provide examinations, prescriptions, vaccinations, and referrals to specialists including sexual health clinics and support with drug and alcohol use. Find your nearest GP here.
Sort your council tax
As a student you’re exempt from paying council tax and you’re entitled to a discount if you’re living with non-students. However, you must claim a council tax exemption otherwise you could be charged an unnecessary bill. Make sure to claim a council tax exemption here.
Get on top of your finances
As students every penny counts, there’s a lot of new expenses but also a lot of ways to save money. We’ve put together an article with some advise on how to save more and spend less.

One of the benefits of being a student is claiming student discounts, sign up to UNiDAYS or student beans to start saving.
Keep in the loop
We regularly post information on exclusive events, opportunities and discounts for our students. But you need to be able to find them. Make sure to follow our Instagram and set up alerts for student hub announcements.
