Things you need to know (or do) before next academic year.

29 April, 2024

With the academic year quickly coming to an end there are some important things we wanted to remind you about before you finish. There are also a few things you need to do over the summer before returning in September.

Opening hours over the summer

As always you’ll have access to the studios and facilities over the summer, and can book them out as normal through Stingray. Throughout most of the summer our open hours will be the same, with the exception of two weeks at the end of July when we will have reduced hours during the week and are closed during weekends.

  • Monday, 15 July – Friday, 26 July: 8.30am – 6.00pm
  • Saturday, 20 and Sunday, 21 July: Closed
  • Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 July: Closed

Please note there may be some occasions over the summer when specific studios will be unavailable due to maintenance and updates.

Student Support

Members of the academic team will also be on hand throughout the summer if you need any support. Whether you want advice about something specific like careers, your wellbeing, student life or just someone to talk to, we’re here.

For wellbeing advice you can drop by the student welfare office, or alternatively you can book a one-to-one appointment by emailing sarah.bradney@spiritstudios.ac.uk

If you’d like any careers support or advice you can book a one-to-one Careers consultation with Creative Industries Advisor Lewis, by going to the Careers section of the Student Hub and filling out the Careers Advice booking form.

Your results

While you’ll get an indication of your marks during feedback week, your formal marks will be available Monday, 17 June. (Note this date has been amended from when the article was originally published.)

If you were late or didn’t submit work due to mitigating circumstances the reassessment deadline will be in the summer. If you think you may need to redo live assessments make sure you take this into account when planning your summer. You will be notified following the June boards if/and what you may need to re-submit.

Things to do before returning

Reapply for student finance
If you’re returning to study with us in September you’ll need to re-apply for your 2024 – 2025 Student Finance. The deadline for returning students to apply is Friday 21 June.

Re-enrol with UCLan
Before you return to Spirit in September you’ll also need to re-enrol online with UCLan. You can do this via myUCLan. Look out for an email from them with a link and instructions on how to enrol.

You need to re-enrol on your course to confirm your status as a student at UCLan and enable your access to their services, such as the library. If you do not enrol with UCLan your fees won’t be released.

Check your Spirit Studios email
Make sure you’re still checking your Spirit Studios email, especially over August and September. Towards the end of August we’ll give your 2024/2025 Academic Timetable and other important details about returning.

We hope you have a brilliant summer and take the time to refresh and relax before the new academic year starts in September. If you need some inspiration for activities, or utilising your time over the break, take a look at our ’How to make the most of this summer‘ article. We’ll keep updating Student News over the summer with relevant events and information.

Finally if we don’t see you around in the studios over summer, have a great break, stay safe and we’ll see you soon.
