Tech Updates.

The tech team have been working hard over the summer to update, upgrade and repair our facilities and equipment. Here’s a breakdown of what’s changed.

New Software

We’ve installed some exciting new software to our computers which will enable you to use new, cutting edge features. Follow the links below to see what’s new. Please note some of the computers are still in the process of having the software installed.

New additions

We’ve added some new equipment to a number of our studios and sign out stock:

We’ve repaired some of the vintage Roland synths, some of which we’ve had since the 80’s.

Synth Suite

• We’ve permanently installed an Elektron Digitakt drum machine; enabling an all hardware workflow and removing the reliance on digital/ computers.

• Installed a USB mod for the Akai S5000 Sampler, as well as more memory. This enables users to quickly upload samples to the Akai’s storage via the Mac’s desktop.

• Installed an oscilloscope

Charlie Jones Live Venue

• Added an additional Sennheiser EW-IEM G4-GB wireless in-ear monitoring set.

• Added 6x Gravity Clamps.

• Relocated some mics to the venue from our general sign-out stock, including Shure Beta 52A and Audio Technica U851R boundary mic

• Added 2x Sennheiser e614 mics due to arrive soon.

Your responses to the facilities survey

Thank you to everyone that completed the facilities survey, it’s essential for us to get your feedback so we can resolve issues and improve your experience in the studios.

Positive feedback

We had some really great feedback on the new and upgraded studios, particularly the synth suite and DJ booths. The tech team worked hard to make these facilities the best they can be so it’s great to hear they’ve been well received.

What we’ve fixed

Following on from your feedback we’ve purchased more RF equipment for the Charlie Jones Live Venue as well as deep cleaned the PA. We’ve also checked and repaired a number of our mics and bought a better drum chair for Audient 4.

What we’ll be looking at shortly

There were some excellent suggestions to improve the experience in the studios, these are some we’ll be actioning soon:

• Adding tables to the introductory studios for synths and extra equipment.
• Installing coloured LED lighting to studios
• Adding a table for records in the Allen & Heath booth.
• Raising the outboard equipment in Audient studio 4 to improve workflow.
• Re-calibrating the monitoring in the project suite.
