Student feedback informs all of our processes and is gained in a number of ways – through module feedback questionnaires, surveys, Student Staff Liaison Committees, and through informal channels.
To gather feedback each course has student representatives who enable your views to be included in the decisions made about courses at Spirit. One of the main roles of student reps is to attend Staff Student Liaison Committee’s that take place over the course of the academic year.
What is the Staff Student Liaison Committee?
Staff Student Liaison Committees (SSLCs) are where student reps from your course meet with the academic team and programme leaders, to give feedback that they gathered from students on the course the represent. They are held once a semester and usually take place in November and March.
There purpose is to provide an opportunity for you (through your reps) to give feedback and ideas to staff about your course, the student experience, and inform developments that will improve the future of the course. The idea is that by consulting student reps, Spirit Studios consults you.
The Academic Team facilitate these meetings and provide a record of the meeting with any decisions, responses or actions taken as a result of discussions.
Semester 1 SSLC
In November last year we hosted the first SSLC of this academic year. It was great to hear really positive feedback with regards to our teaching provision, Spirit+ and the student community developing here at Spirit.
Below is a brief overview of some of the changes we are already implementing following your feedback and we will continue to build on this over the coming months so keep an eye on the newsletter updates:
| Point Raised | Response |
| Technical resources hub | All students have now been invited to the technical resources hub – this is an area where you can access useful guides, resources and technical support. There’s also an overview of the software, equipment and student discounts! |
| Technical issues in studios | It’s really important that you report any issues or faults. You can do this via this link: https://technicalsupport.spiritstudios.ac.uk/ We are also looking to ensure that this link is widely available in our studios to make this easier. |
| Refurbishment of studios | You might have noticed that we’ve refurbished the C24. We plan to implement similar changes across other studios in the building, to create more ambiance and a more comfortable and creative space. Changes like these take time, but keep your eyes peeled! |
| Request for contactless vending machines | These have been updated and are located in the Green Room. |
If you ever have any feedback or suggestions, we strongly encourage you to talk to your student reps! To find out who the student rep on your course is go to your course classroom hub, and your student representatives are listed in the classwork area.
