Our Spirit+ programme will enhance your learning and provide the perfect opportunity for you to expand your skills, explore new ideas and collaborate with students from other disciplines. Below is our confirmed line-up for Semester 1.

As spaces are limited, for each Spirit + session you’ll need to sign up to book your space. There is a separate sign-up form for each session, and you need to sign-up to each session you would like to attend.

Sign-up forms will go live on Monday, 28 September at 9:30am.

Al Groves Talk and Q+A

Join record producer and owner of the Motor Museum recording studio Al Groves for a talk and Q+A. Al has achieved platinum, gold and silver records throughout his career. His client list includes names such as Bring Me The Horizon, Crawlers, The Sherlocks and Cast.

Remmel Brown Production Masterclass

Music Producer and Sound Engineer Two4Kay aka Remmel Brown will be providing a masterclass in our Charlie Jones venue providing tips and tricks on all things production. Remmel has worked with artists such as Aitch, Popcaan and Giggs.

Antony Szmierek Soundcheck

Manchester Academy 1

We will be joining Antony Szmierek at Manchester Academy 1 for his soundcheck. Antony is a musician, producer and poet from Greater Manchester who’s debut album topped the UK Dance Albums Chart. Antony’s FOH engineer is Spirit Alumnus Ben Hale who studied Live Audio Engineering and Music Production in 2021. We will also be chatting to Ben about his process for the this show.

Drum Tech Workshop

Experienced drummer and technician Aaron Haigh will be hosting an in-depth drum tech and maintenance workshop in our Charlie Jones live venue. Aaron has toured as a drum tech with bands such as the Courteeners, DMA’s and the Chainsmokers.

PRS and The Musicians’ Union Talk

Daniel Jones and Philip Morris from PRS and the Musicians Union respectively, will be presenting a joint talk on their companies and how they work together. As two of the most important companies in the music industry they provide a great insight into how to earn money as musician, artist, writer, producer & engineer.

Soldering Workshop

The Spirit Studios Tech Team will be providing a hands on workshop showing you how to repair cables and kit, and show you the inner workings of audio equipment.
