Our Spirit+ sessions will be returning in Semester 2, with sessions taking place on a Friday afternoon. Below is our confirmed line-up for the semester, to put in your diaries.
How to sign-up
Once again spaces are limited, for each Spirit + session you’ll need to sign up to book your space. There is a separate sign-up form for each session, and you need to sign-up to each session you would like to attend. You need to sign-up with your Spirit Studios email address (if you are signed into your Google workspace this will be entered automatically). You will not be able to access the Google Form with a personal email.

Loop Studios and South City Studios Visit
Friday, 23 January
Time: 11.15am – 4pm
Location: Stockport (meet at Spirit Studios as 11.15am).
We will be heading to Stockport to visit both Loop Studios and South City Studios to see how two successful commercial studios are run and learn about how these studios were built.

NØELLE Live Immersive Performance Masterclass
Friday, 6 February:
Time: 2pm- 5pm
Location: Venue
NØELLE is Welsh-Ukrainian electronic producer, spatial audio and AV artist whose work explores reinvigorating live electronic performance through her implementation of immersive technologies such as spatial audio, augmented reality and motion reactivity in the form of artist-led immersive live performances. Noelle will be delivering an immersive audio performance masterclass in our venue.
Her recent work ranges from presenting her live spatial audio + AV + AR show at BEYOND, Cobalt Studios (Newcastle) and Leaf (Liverpool), launching the first 9.1 spatial audio liveshow in Fortnite, releasing her upcoming hyperpop EP in Dolby Atmos and exploring motion reactivity within immersive performance settings using the MiMu Gloves and Flowfal devices in residencies at HOME Theatre (Manchester) and Effenaar (Eindhoven).

JB Pilon Mixing Masterclass (rescheduled from Semester 1)
Friday, 13 February:
Time: 1pm – 4pm
Location: Spirit Studio
Music Producer and Sound Engineer JB Pilon will be providing a mixing masterclass in Spirit Studio providing tips and tricks on all things mixing. JB has had his work rack up millions of streams and airplay on BBC Radio 1/2/6 Music. JB is also the owner of Buffalo Recording Studio in Leeds.

Guitar and Bass Setup workshop with Rigby Music
Friday 27, February
Time: 2pm – 5pm
Location: Venue
Learn all about guitar and bass setups and maintenance with Pete Rigby from Rogby Music. Get hands on with our guitars and basses in this workshop looking at intonation, action, string changing, and maintenance. Pete will also be talking about his work building custom guitars.

Turntablism Workshop
Friday, 6 March:
Time: 2pm – 5pm
Location: Venue
Spirit Studios veteran Chengy, will be presenting a Turntablism workshop. Learn the art of manipulating turntables, creating sound FX, beats and new music. Chengy will cover mixing, scratching and beat juggling during this Spirit+. This session is open to all levels even if you are already a proficient DJ or if you have never put a stylus on a vinyl before.

Damien Egan – Audient Ltd. Masterclass

Damien and Brynn, representatives from Audient will be providing a console masterclass in our Audient Studios whilst also talking about life as professional sound engineers and producers in the music industry.
