Where to go now the summer’s over? We’ve rounded up some of Manchester’s best offerings this October to warm you into the colder months.
Halloween
Get your yearly dose of spooky season, from infamous inflatable monsters to award winning scare mazes that come with a disclaimer… Here are some of the highlights, ranked low to high on scare factor.
Halloween in the city
The iconic inflatable monsters are back on Manchester’s rooftops (pictured above), created by artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas. They will be appearing from Friday 25 October, forming an inflatable art trail throughout the city.

King Street Townhouse Hotel’s Halloween Screenings
The luxurious, historic hotel has revealed a calendar of classic Halloween films to be screened in their intimate 20-seat cinema. Showing classics including the Adams Family, Hocus Pocus, Nightmare on Elm Street and The Exorcist. Tickets start from £15 with a range of food and drinks available to purchase as well as upgrades for cocktails or afternoon tea. Spooky season with style.

Time to Die at Diecast
An immersive scare experience in the centre of the city. Designed by Diecast and the team behind Area 51, the award-winning Newsham Scream Park in Liverpool. Consisting of two never-before-seen scare experiences one can only imagine what’s in store.
Scare City
Awarded 1st place as the Best Scare Attraction of 2023, the Scare City Experience is a continuous trail through 10 zones combining detailed set design, live actors and terrifying SFX all set in the abandoned Camelot theme park in Chorley. From clowns to spiders the zones are themed to trigger any phobia and to top it off you need to sign a disclaimer before you enter.
Ordsall Hall
Smoke and mirrors aside there are some truly spooky happenings. Claimed to be one of the most haunted buildings in the city, Ordsall Hall has a reputation for frequent paranormal activity both during the day and after dark. The impressive Tudor building is over 800 years old and has a rich and turbulent history, entry during normal hours is free with plenty to explore. Although if you do want to try your luck, they host Ghost Nights with organisations after hours…

October Events
As the club season takes over, the cities esteemed reputation precedes itself. With line-ups big and small bringing in talent of international acclaim and a strong representation of the hottest emerging sounds, scenes and parties.

Super Awesome Deluxe
Opening on Wednesday 9 October, this new takeaway-only burger spot is from the people behind Liquor & Burn, Home Sweet Home and Almost Famous. Offering an extremely refined menu of just three burgers this is a true example of less is more.
Detroit Slims
Brainchild of the teams behind Ramona, Firehouse and Diecast, this new casual dining spot at Circle Square will specialise in Detroit-style pizza, offering ‘game-changing’ 10-inch long rectangles of perfect pan pizza. They’re giving away 10,000 pizzas to celebrate their opening on Saturday 12 October, sign up here.
Zaytoni Piccadilly
For anyone unaware, the popular Oxford Road spot has rivalled shawarma shops across the city offering chicken, lamb or falafel in a fresh samoon or naan packed with a variety of salad, pickles, chilli and yoghurt sauce for £5. After great success at their original location they’ve opened a new spot on Oldham Street, open until 5am at the weekends, a gamechanger for late night revellers.
