Welcome back to another academic year, whether your new to Spirit Studios or returning, this is a summary of need-to-know information that will help you throughout the year. From studio booking to wellbeing, click on the links to find out more. (Hint: bookmark this page)
Studio booking
Stingray – Our bespoke software for booking studios, follow the link to read the full guide studio bookings including Studio credits and log in instructions.
Technical Support – If you need help with equipment or facilities for the first time please read through the applicable guides found in your Technical Resources classroom.
If you are having trouble with one of our IT services or facilities that you’ve been using for a while, or if you’ve exhausted the knowledgebase, or would like to report a fault, please open a new ticket via our Technical Support Centre. We’ll then be in touch ASAP.
Sign-out equipment – We have lots of equipment available for you to book out to elevate your work, from synthesisers to loop pedals. Use this link to access the full list of equipment and their manuals. Reservations for sign-out equipment can be made through Cheqroom.

IT support
Your Spirit Studios user account – This is your main account to access most of Spirit Studios’ IT services, follow this guide for access information and how to change your password.
Software – We have a lot of software on a lot of different workstations. This is your guide to what we have and where to find it.
Free software and available trials – This free software will help upgrade your home studio set-up. There are also numerous discounts on software and hardware available to Spirit Studios students.
Google workspace – This is Google’s tidy range of online services including Gmail, Drive, Classroom and Calendar. All interlinked to streamline your experience. Follow this guide for accessing and managing your Google workspace.
Library & Academic support
Study Zone – the new study zone is located on the first floor, next door to the Mastering Studio. Our library of books and resources is in there as well as computers to work on and clear desk space for those working on laptops.
Student Hub – The Student Hub (classroom) houses all the information you might need to support your teaching and learning. Here you’ll find you’re academic calendar, assessment information, learning and library information, policy documents and more. It’s also where we’ll post about Spirit + session, and other news and events that may be of interest to students.
UCLan Learning and Information Services – As Spirit Studios is a partner of UCLan our students are entitles to full membership of the University’s Library and IT facilities, both on the Preston Campus and online. This includes:
- Access to over 371,360 e-books
- Articles from over 86,370 e-journals
- Specialist online subject resources
- Currently 9,746 online training courses from LinkedIn Learning
- Various software available to access
To access the University’s library catalogue and e-resources go to uclan.ac.uk/library, you’ll need your UCLan email and password to access these services.
Student support
Our Student Welfare Hub contains a range of online Student Support Resources, from accommodation and finance information to welfare information. We also have a dedicated Student Welfare Officer (Sarah Bradney) who is located in the Student Welfare Office on the ground floor next to the Engineering Lab, and is available for one-to-one appointments. Whatever you’re dealing with we’re happy to help wherever we can, just ask.
Careers support
Partnerships – As you have probably heard, experience and networking is essential. Luckily our students have access to opportunities with some of the most respected music brands in the world thanks to our well-established industry partnerships. Including Ableton, Solotech amd iZotope.
Creative Industries Advisor – As well as hosting a range of Careers information on the Student Hub, we also have a dedicated Creative Industries Advisor (Lewis Jones) who is available for one-to-one Careers Consultations which you can book via the Google Form located in the Student Hub.
UCLan Careers Support – Just like access to UCLan’s library services, you also have access to their Careers system CareerEDGE. CareerEDGE gives you quick and easy access to hundreds of the latest jobs, development tools and more. You can use the system to search for job vacancies, build your CV and CV checks and use the Career e-learning, self-assessments, aptitude tests and more.
